Datasite acquires Swedish data platform Valu8 to boost European deal sourcing

What's the deal? Datasite, a Minneapolis-based provider of AI-powered dealmaking tools, has acquired Valu8, a Swedish private market intelligence platform with data on 70 million European companies. Valu8 will be integrated into Grata, Datasite's private market intelligence business. Terms were not disclosed.

Valu8 serves more than 600 customers — primarily private equity firms, investment banks, and corporate M&A teams — with strong adoption across the Nordics and growing presence in the UK, DACH, Iberia, and Benelux regions. Grata already covers over 20 million companies globally.

"By combining Grata's global intelligence with Valu8's proprietary European data assets, we are giving customers full market visibility at a truly international scale," said Nevin Raj, general manager of Grata.

Why now? The deal extends a rapid acquisition spree for Datasite. Grata expanded into the UK, France, Germany, and Australia in July 2025, then acquired Sourcescrub in August 2025. Valu8 fills a gap in European private company financials and ownership data — information that's notoriously hard to aggregate across fragmented continental markets.

Datasite also recently launched a Model Context Protocol server that lets deal teams use AI assistants like Claude, ChatGPT, and Microsoft Copilot to manage virtual data rooms without moving documents off its secure platform.

What could go wrong? Integrating three acquisitions in under a year is no small feat. Merging Valu8's European datasets with Grata's existing coverage risks data quality issues and customer disruption during the transition. The company also faces competition from established financial data providers like PitchBook and Preqin, which are investing heavily in AI and private market coverage of their own.

The signal: The M&A intelligence market is consolidating fast. Dealmakers increasingly want a single platform that spans sourcing, diligence, and execution — and covers companies globally, not just in North America. Datasite is betting that stitching together proprietary datasets across geographies, layered with AI, will be the winning formula.

"We can scale our vision globally and increase the pace in our AI implementations," said Anders Lundgren, co-founder and chief executive officer of Valu8.

Bank of America and Jefferies advised Datasite on the transaction.
