Opereit raises $2.5M seed to fix logistics' €1B claims blind spot
What's the deal? Opereit, a startup using AI to recover money lost to carrier overbilling and botched claims in logistics, has raised a $2.5M seed round led by Seedcamp and Yellow, the fund of Glovo co-founders Oscar Pierre and Sacha Michaud.
The company estimates that more than €1B disappears from the global logistics industry each year — not through fraud, but through avoidable errors: invoice overcharges, lost or damaged shipments, and claims processes so manual that most companies simply write off the losses.
Why now? Filing a carrier claim has historically required navigating emails, portals, and phone calls — messy enough to resist traditional automation. Generative AI changed the equation. Opereit's AI agents now detect billing errors, flag lost shipments, and file claims through to resolution with no human in the loop.
Founder Pablo Cousin saw the problem firsthand as part of the founding team at YC-backed REVERDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →. "Every month we saw the same black hole," he said. "Carriers overcharging, claims that were impossible to track, and money lost in processes that lacked visibility. The problem isn't operational, it's structural."
Early traction is strong. In its first audit with fashion brand Nude Project, Opereit identified over $200,000 in recoverable claims.
What could go wrong? Opereit's value proposition depends on sustained accuracy from its AI agents across a fragmented landscape of carriers, billing systems, and claims portals. Scaling that across Europe — the company's next target — means adapting to different carriers, languages, and regulatory frameworks. If error rates creep up, so does the risk of eroding client trust.
The market is also likely to attract competition. Carrier billing disputes represent a clear, quantifiable pain point — exactly the kind of problem that draws well-funded rivals once the category is proven.
The signal: The involvement of Yellow — backed by Glovo co-founders Oscar Pierre and Sacha Michaud — is notable, given their direct operational experience with the carrier billing pain points Opereit targets. Seedcamp's co-lead adds further weight; the firm has a long track record of backing vertical AI plays at the earliest stages. With logistics still riddled with manual back-office workflows, Opereit is betting that agentic AI can unlock value hiding in plain sight across one of Europe's most fragmented industries.
