Fuse Energy Nears $5 Billion Valuation as It Raises Capital to Challenge UK Power Market

Fuse Energy, a UK-based startup founded by former Revolut executives Alan ChangDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → and Charles OrrDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, is in advanced discussions to raise a $100 million funding round that would value the company at around $5 billion —a five-fold increase from its valuation just four months ago.

Founded in 2022, Fuse Energy supplies more than 200,000 UK households and generates about $300 million in annual recurring revenue. The company distinguishes itself by combining its own renewable-energy generation with direct retail supply, a structure designed to improve margins and reduce exposure to wholesale-market volatility.

Fuse’s first solar farm, located in Hampshire, is already in development, and the company is expanding into electric-vehicle charging as part of a broader integrated-energy offering.

Fuse’s approach positions it as an emerging challenger to established UK players such as Octopus Energy , whose rapid growth has demonstrated the potential for technology-driven business models in a traditionally regulated sector.

Like Octopus, Fuse relies heavily on software and data to optimise pricing, customer engagement and energy routing, but aims to differentiate itself through deeper control of physical generation assets.

The fundraise comes at a pivotal moment for the UK’s retail-energy sector. Recent regulatory reforms and the collapse of dozens of suppliers since 2021 have raised the bar for new entrants, making capital strength and operational resilience essential.

Fuse Energy argues that its integrated model provides both, enabling it to scale more sustainably than suppliers dependent solely on wholesale markets.
