Try Dealroom →, Bessemer Venture Partners, and Comcast Ventures, as well as launching her own startup, Jindal identified a gap: despite MIT’s strength in producing top-tier technical founders, few venture funds focus specifically on them. Jindal completed the raise in six months without external fundraising support, learning as she went. The fund’s strategy centres on high-conviction, concentrated bets, typically writing $1–5 million checks into early-stage companies. Sugar Free Capital introduces new investment themes each quarter, with recent focuses on physical AI, data centre optimisation, and AI agents.
Reflecting on the process, Jindal said the most common objections from limited partners (LPs) concerned her solo GP structure and concentrated approach. Still, she found that interested investors quickly recognised the clarity of her thesis and her track record with technical founders.
Her advice to emerging managers: fundraising is as much about self-understanding as persuasion. “Fundraising teaches you about your strategy and where you fit in the ecosystem — listen to that. If you’re six months in without traction, it’s likely a signal to refine your story.”
