EdgeCortix nears $100M Series B to scale AI chip production
EdgeCortix, a Japanese startup building energy-efficient AI chips for edge computing, has completed the initial close of its Series B funding round, bringing total funding to nearly $100 million. The company designs chips that process data locally on devices, enabling faster, lower-power AI computations for applications from autonomous systems to generative AI.
The round attracted global investors including Yanmar Ventures, Pacific Bays Capital, NTT Finance, SiC Power, Aero X Ventures, and continued support from existing backers like SBI Investments and GHOVC. The funding will accelerate production of EdgeCortix’s SAKURA-II AI co-processors and its next-generation SAKURA-X chiplet platform, which delivers up to 2,000 TOPS per device while keeping power consumption low.
For EdgeCortix, the capital provides the resources to scale manufacturing and meet growing demand for edge AI hardware. More broadly, it highlights investor confidence in startups that are building the infrastructure for high-performance AI outside the cloud, showing that edge computing is becoming a critical layer in the AI ecosystem.
