The company
Warhound breeds working dogs for military, law enforcement and first-responder use, applying genomics, gene editing and cloning to select for health, longevity, temperament and trainability. The company uses technology licensed from Colossal Biosciences, which holds equity in the business.
Demand for reliable K9s across defence and public safety is persistent, yet breeding for performance remains slow and imprecise; Warhound is betting that genomics and cloning can tighten the odds on which dogs make the grade.
The concept was developed by Colossal co-founder Ben Lamm and Anduril founder Palmer Luckey, with Lamm on the board and Luckey holding no equity. It launched in October 2026 with CEO David Spirk, a former US Marine and former Chief Data Officer at the US Department of Defense and USSOCOM, at the helm.
Spirk brings direct defence and data leadership from the DoD and USSOCOM, while the Colossal licence gives Warhound a technology base in gene editing and cloning rather than a standing start.
