The company
Lambda Robotics builds autonomous systems for the physical infrastructure behind frontier AI — robots aimed at the hands-on work of constructing and maintaining large-scale computational infrastructure, including AI data centres. In short, hardware for the places where AI software has to meet the real world.
The industry is pouring capital into ever-larger AI infrastructure, yet the physical build-out and upkeep still leans heavily on scarce human labour. Lambda is betting the picks-and-shovels layer of the AI boom is itself ripe for automation.
The three founders trace their collective experience to the University of Pennsylvania's GRASP robotics lab, and started Lambda to point serious robotics research at a bottleneck they see hiding in plain sight: the physical demands of AI infrastructure.
The founding team pairs GRASP research roots with practical range — Liam Zhong (CTO) brings computer vision, control and reinforcement learning; Yim Ying focuses on productisation and manufacturing, having built dexterous-hand and underwater robotic systems; Chen Peng blends UPenn and Penn Medicine research with a stint as a BlackRock investment analyst.
