Trase Systems provides an agentic AI platform that deploys and operationalizes autonomous AI agents to automate complex administrative workflows, particularly within highly regulated industries. The company was co-founded by CEO Grant Verstandig and Chief Architect Joe Laws and emerged from stealth in 2025. It was incubated at Red Cell Partners, a venture studio also founded by Verstandig that focuses on technology companies in healthcare, cyber, and national security.

The development of Trase's platform began in September 2024, coinciding with a $10.5 million pre-seed funding round from Red Cell and the Virginia Innovation Partnership Corporation's (VIPC) Virginia Venture Partners. Co-founder Grant Verstandig is a serial entrepreneur who previously founded Rally Health, a digital health company acquired by UnitedHealth Group, where he then served as Chief Digital Officer. He has also co-founded other technology firms like Epirus and DEFCON AI. Co-founder Joe Laws has a background as a principal engineer at Reddit, Dropbox, and Google, and previously served as an Infantry officer in the US Army.

Trase's core offering is an end-to-end platform for building, managing, and orchestrating AI agents that can handle manual, repetitive tasks. The platform is model-agnostic and designed to be deployed across various environments, including cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP), on-premise systems, and secure air-gapped networks, ensuring data remains within the client's control. Key features include an agent builder, multi-agent orchestration, human-in-the-loop review interfaces, and an integration layer for connecting with systems like EHRs and ERPs. The company emphasizes security and compliance, with its platform being HIPAA compliant, SOC 2 Type I attested, and DoD ready.

The company's business model is based on shared savings, where clients are billed based on measurable outcomes and efficiencies delivered by the AI agents, rather than an upfront service fee. For healthcare, its agents automate tasks like prescription refills, patient-provider matching, and email/fax routing. Current clients include Duke Health, where its technology has been used to streamline prescription refills, and a contract with the U.S. Department of the Navy.
