TerraBlaster is a Redwood City agtech company that turns NASA-linked laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) into rugged sensors that map soil pH plus nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and other nutrients in real time at tractor speed. Founded with CEO Jorge Heraud (co-founder of Blue River Technology, acquired by John Deere) after Impossible Sensing approached him to commercialise the chemistry for agriculture, TerraBlaster’s Blaster 1000 tows behind a tractor or ATV, samples roughly twenty times per second and produces ~0.15-acre nutrient maps that match variable-rate spreader widths—far denser than typical 2.5-acre lab grids. After Midwest demos, commercial systems are targeted for 2027 with a later measure-and-apply roadmap. In August 2026 TerraBlaster raised a $12.5 million seed led by Ulu Ventures (Khosla Ventures, Trailhead, Builders Vision, Bidra, Ag Startup Engine, Reservoir, Sunna, Plug and Play, GrainInnovate and Hort Innovation / Artesian also participated), bringing cumulative funding to about $16.5 million.
