Spaceflight, founded in 2011 as a subsidiary of Spaceflight Industries, established itself as a key player in the commercial space sector by providing comprehensive launch services and mission management for a diverse clientele. The company was originally established by Jason Andrews, with Curt Blake later joining and serving as CEO and President for a significant period. Blake, a lawyer with a background in satellite communications and software, steered the company through a decade of growth, leveraging his expertise to navigate the complex legal and commercial landscape of the space industry. The firm carved out a niche as a rideshare provider, purchasing space on various launch vehicles—from small rockets to large ones like SpaceX's Falcon 9—and then selling that capacity to multiple customers, primarily small satellite operators.
