Raphe mPhibr Private Limited is an aerospace and defense technology company positioning itself at the forefront of India's strategic self-reliance initiative. Founded in 2017 by brothers Vikash and Vivek Mishra, and Nitin Katiyar, the Noida-based firm specializes in the end-to-end indigenous design, development, and manufacturing of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and their subsystems. The founders' journey stems from a shared conviction to build critical defense technology within India, moving away from reliance on imported systems. This vision is backed by deep technical expertise; Chairman Vikash Mishra has a background in aerospace engineering and nuclear science from MIT, while CEO Vivek Mishra holds a PhD in electrical and computer engineering from Georgia Tech. Their approach was to first master the core component technologies before assembling complete systems, a strategy that has differentiated the company in a crowded field.

The company's business model is centered on vertical integration, producing nearly all components in-house at its 650,000-square-foot facility. This includes flight controllers, carbon fiber composites, propulsion systems, and proprietary autopilots. By controlling the entire manufacturing process, Raphe mPhibr aims to shorten development cycles and ensure technological sovereignty, aligning with the Indian government's 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' (Self-Reliant India) and 'Make in India' policies. Its primary clients are Indian governmental agencies, including the Army, Navy, Air Force, and various paramilitary forces like the Border Security Force. The firm generates revenue through contracts for these mission-critical platforms, having delivered over 300 drones in the past year and achieving profitability.

Raphe mPhibr's product portfolio is diverse and tailored to the challenging operational requirements of the Indian armed forces. Key offerings include the mR10, described as the world's first operational drone swarm; the mR20, a high-altitude logistics platform designed for challenging terrains like the Himalayas; the man-portable Bharat surveillance drone; and the X8 for maritime patrol. These UAVs have logged over a million kilometers in flight. The company has also secured contracts to develop advanced systems, such as a hypersonic Ramjet propulsion system for the Indian Navy. With total funding of $145 million, including a significant $100 million Series B round led by General Catalyst, Raphe mPhibr is expanding its manufacturing capacity and R&D, with plans for a potential IPO in the next two to five years.
