Niulinx

Niulinx is a spin-off from the Polytechnic University of Milan, specializing in the development of autonomous driving technology. The company originated from the AIDA (Artificial Intelligence Driving Autonomous) research group, led by Sergio Matteo Savaresi, a globally recognized expert in the field and Director of the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering at the university. Niulinx's CEO is Luca Foresti. The company's technology is the result of extensive research and real-world validation, including a 2025 pilot project with the A2A Group and the National Center for Sustainable Mobility (MOST).

Niulinx is developing a complete technology stack for autonomous driving, encompassing environmental perception, route planning, vehicle control, and remote fleet management. The company's mission is to become the leading European provider of autonomous mobility technology, with a focus on creating safe, gradual, and people-centric solutions. It aims to address the gap in the European market for a continental champion in autonomous driving, which is currently dominated by players from the United States and China. The global autonomous driving market is valued at over $50 billion and is projected to exceed $300 billion by 2035.

The company's business model is designed to be regulatory-first, capital-efficient, and scalable through a franchising model with local operators. This approach allows for collaboration with local partners to deploy autonomous mobility services. In a significant milestone, Niulinx recently closed a €38 million funding round. The round was led by A2A and CDP Venture Capital, each contributing €10 million. Other notable investors include AFL, Gruppo Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane (the Italian State Railways group), Pirelli, VC Partners SGR, MOST, and the ICO Falck Foundation, alongside international individual investors. The funds will be used to finalize the autonomous driving stack, obtain European homologation, expand the team to over 100 engineers and data scientists, and launch the franchising model in key European markets, starting with Germany.
