Mejor Technologies, a Dutch-based software-as-a-service (SaaS) firm, was established in 2021 by co-founders Melvin Sieben and Joris Kohl van Wijngaarden. The inspiration for the company arose from a 2021 discussion between the two about the devastating Australian bushfires, leading to the idea of continuous, global wildfire monitoring. The company's name, MEJOR, is a portmanteau of the founders' first names, Melvin and Joris. Sieben, an Applied Physics specialist, serves as CEO, while van Wijngaarden, an expert in Mechatronics and Industrial Automation, is the CTO. In October 2023, the company secured an undisclosed amount of seed funding from the Graduate Entrepreneur Fund.

The company operates on a SaaS business model, providing its software solutions to clients and generating revenue through these services. It targets a range of clients involved in land and emergency management, including forest managers and first responders. The firm's mission is to protect nature, people, and property from wildfires using its technological solutions.

Mejor Technologies has developed a suite of two specialized SaaS products for wildfire management: LUCI and CHRIS. LUCI is a wildfire prevention tool that supports forest and land managers by analyzing temporal and spatial data to determine when, where, and why a wildfire might occur. The platform uses public satellite data, ERA5 climate data, and inputs on topography, vegetation, and human activity to create wildfire susceptibility maps with a spatial resolution of 10 meters. This enables proactive resource allocation and risk mitigation both during and outside of the wildfire season.

CHRIS is a wildfire response support system designed for mitigation. It works with standard drones, like those from DJI, to provide near real-time situational awareness during active incidents. The system stitches together drone images to create a comprehensive, high-resolution map of the fire zone, automatically detecting hotspots, providing their GPS coordinates, and drawing fire lines. This gives emergency crews a clear, bird's-eye view of the incident, enhancing their ability to plan and allocate resources effectively. The company does not manufacture or sell drones but collaborates with partners to offer complete packages.
