Hubble Network

Hubble Network, established in 2021 by co-founders Alex Haro, Ben Wild, John Kim, and Josh Barnes, is engineering a satellite network to provide global connectivity for Bluetooth-enabled devices. The company's formation was driven by CEO Alex Haro's experience as CTO at Life360, where he identified a market gap for a global, battery-efficient, and low-cost connectivity solution for hardware devices, which existing cellular and satellite networks could not fill. Co-founder and CTO Ben Wild brings extensive experience in electrical engineering, focusing on wireless communications and signal processing.

The company's core offering is a satellite constellation in low Earth orbit designed to communicate directly with standard Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) chips. This is accomplished through patented technologies, including advanced digital beamforming and phased-array antennas on the satellites, which can detect low-power signals from over 600 km away. A key technical differentiator is that existing devices can connect to the network via a simple software update without requiring new hardware, a significant advantage over competitors that need proprietary chipsets. This approach enables connectivity in areas without cellular coverage, offering what is described as 20 times less battery drain and 50 times lower operating costs than traditional solutions.

Hubble Network operates on a business-to-business model, providing connectivity as a service to companies in various sectors. These industries include logistics, agriculture, mining, defense, oil and gas, and consumer device manufacturing. The company provides developers with an open API and modular SDKs to facilitate integration with their existing platforms. Revenue is generated by charging these enterprise customers for access to the network, and it is up to these customers to determine how to price the service for their end-users. After securing $20 million in a Series A funding round in May 2023, led by Transpose Platform, Hubble Network successfully launched its first two satellites aboard a SpaceX Transporter-10 mission on March 4, 2024, and subsequently confirmed a direct Bluetooth connection to them.
