Hastee is a financial technology company founded in London in 2017 by James Herbert and Simon Draper. Herbert, a serial entrepreneur who had previously founded the staffing firm Brightsparks while at university, was inspired by the liquidity issues he saw workers face. This experience, combined with Draper's interest in personal finance, led to the creation of Hastee to address the financial stress caused by rigid monthly pay cycles.

The company operates on a business-to-business-to-consumer (B2B2C) model, partnering with employers to offer its financial wellbeing platform as an employee benefit. The service is free for employers to implement and integrates with existing HR and payroll systems without impacting company cash flow. Hastee's revenue is generated through small, transparent transaction fees on withdrawals, though the first withdrawal each month (up to a certain limit) is often free. In June 2025, Hastee was acquired by Zellis Group, a major provider of HR and payroll services, to integrate its offerings into a broader suite of employee wellness tools.

Hastee’s core offering is Earned Wage Access (EWA), which allows employees to withdraw a portion of their earned wages on demand before the scheduled payday. Through a mobile application, users can access up to 50% of their accrued pay, providing a flexible alternative to high-cost credit options like payday loans or overdrafts. Hastee funds these advances directly and is reimbursed by the employer on the regular payday. In addition to EWA, the platform provides a suite of financial management tools, including an earnings tracker, automated weekly salary withdrawals, and personalized financial education resources. The company serves a wide range of sectors, with clients such as McDonald's, IKEA, the NHS, and PayPal.
