Genesis Lab Inc. is a deep-tech company founded in 2017 that specializes in interactive AI to analyze human behavior from video and audio data. Headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, the company was co-founded by CEO Young-bok (YB) Lee, Chief AI Scientist Dr. Dae Hun Yoo, and CTO Ju Kyung Park. YB Lee, who previously co-founded an enterprise messenger startup, identified an opportunity in the burgeoning field of deep learning, which led to the creation of Genesis Lab. His background includes a computer science degree from the University of Auckland and a master's in electrical engineering, where he focused on face-based detection.

The company's core technology utilizes deep learning and computer vision to perform detailed behavioral analysis. This includes face and facial landmark detection, age and gender estimation, head pose and eye-gaze tracking, and the recognition of seven universal facial expressions. The platform is designed to digitize and quantify non-verbal cues and communication skills, providing data-driven assessments. Genesis Lab initially gained recognition for its facial expression recognition technology, which demonstrated state-of-the-art performance, particularly in identifying the subtle expressions of Asians.

Genesis Lab's business model is primarily B2B, serving clients in human resources, healthcare, and education. In HR, its 'Viewinter' solution acts as an AI video interviewer that screens candidates by analyzing their responses and non-verbal behavior to predict hiring scores and assess soft skills. This tool aims to streamline the recruitment process and reduce interviewer bias for large corporations, with notable clients including LG Electronics, LG U+, and Hyundai Mobis. Beyond recruitment, the technology is applied to mental health for video-based depression diagnosis, a product developed over a two-year collaboration with Seoul National University Hospital. In the education sector, it is used for automated English speaking tests.
