The company was acquired by Guangzhou Xiaopeng Motors Technology (Xpeng) and now operates as its robotics subsidiary. In a significant strategic move announced in August 2026, Xpeng initiated a carve-out of its robotics business to establish Dogotix as a standalone operation with independent financing channels. This restructuring involved Xpeng transferring assets, intellectual property, and personnel to Dogotix. Following this, Dogotix will no longer be a wholly-owned subsidiary, though Xpeng will retain a controlling stake of approximately 68.41% upon full execution of the related agreements.
As part of this new structure, Dogotix secured approximately $900 million in funding commitments. The financing was led by IDG Capital, with significant participation from strategic investors including Alibaba, Tencent, and Gaorong Ventures. Xpeng itself contributed $200 million, while companies controlled by Xpeng's Chairman and CEO, Xiaopeng He, and Co-president, Brian Gu, invested a combined $100 million. This financing round placed a post-transaction valuation on Dogotix of around $6.3 billion. The capital is intended for business expansion, research and development, and commercialization of its physical AI technologies.
The business model focuses on the research, development, manufacturing, and commercialization of general-purpose robots and robotic systems. While the company's robotics business reported net losses in 2024 and 2025, the substantial capital injection aims to fortify its balance sheet and accelerate its path to profitability. The agreement includes redemption rights for investors if Dogotix fails to complete a qualified IPO within seven years, creating a clear timeline for growth and market entry.
