About Chuchujie

Chuchujie, formally known as Beijing Chuliu Network Technology Co., Ltd., was established in Beijing in 2011 by founder Lv Jinjie. Lv, a former webmaster, gained early recognition for developing applications on platforms like Kaixin001 and Tencent's open platform. The company initially operated as a mobile-first product discovery platform, functioning as a shopping guide that earned revenue through affiliate marketing. It crawled various e-commerce sites to feature deeply discounted and trending products for its users.

The platform's business model evolved significantly over the years. In its early phase, Chuchujie successfully leveraged its presence on Tencent's QQ Zone, accumulating over 50 million followers and generating substantial transaction volumes through commissions. A pivotal moment came in early 2015 when the company ceased its guide relationship with Taobao to build its own independent e-commerce platform, focusing on a "special sale" or flash sale concept. This transition targeted a younger demographic, particularly the post-90s generation, with offerings across clothing, cosmetics, electronics, and more. The business generated revenue directly from sales on its platform. By 2015, the company reported an annual sales volume of 5 billion RMB.

Chuchujie achieved several notable milestones, including securing multiple rounds of funding from prominent investors like Tencent, SoftBank China Capital (SBCVC), and New Horizon Capital. Its Series C funding round in 2016 raised $154 million (approximately 1 billion RMB). At its peak, the platform boasted over 100 million installed users. However, despite its early success and substantial backing, Chuchujie faced operational and strategic challenges. By mid-2019, following layoffs, the company reportedly disbanded, with its core business activities ceasing. Tracxn lists the company as deadpooled.
