CCC Intelligent Solutions
Claims Management Software for the automotive, insurance, and collision repair industries
About CCC Intelligent Solutions
In 1980, the auto insurance claims process was a mess of paper, phone calls, and manual calculations. Recognizing this inefficiency, Howard Nusbaum and two friends founded Certified Collateral Corporation, later known as CCC Intelligent Solutions. Their idea was to build a database of vehicle parts and labor information to standardize and computerize collision damage estimates. The company created a system that connected insurance carriers with collision repair shops, bringing a new level of data and efficiency to the industry. From the start, CCC's value was its network. The more insurers and repair shops that used the platform, the more valuable it became for everyone involved. This created a powerful flywheel effect, cementing their position in the property and casualty insurance economy. They weren't just a software company; they were building the digital infrastructure for an entire ecosystem. The company's journey has been marked by several major shifts in ownership. After its initial public offering, CCC was taken private in 2006 by Investcorp. Just a few years later, in 2017, the private equity firm Advent International acquired a majority stake in the company. Then, in a significant move, CCC went public again in 2021 through a merger with a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC), Dragoneer Growth Opportunities Corp. This event underscored the immense value locked within its network, providing the capital to further expand its AI-powered solutions and digital workflows, continuing to redefine the auto claims experience for the modern era.
