About AVATR
AVATR Technology emerges as a formidable player in the premium smart electric vehicle (SEV) market, born from a strategic collaboration of three Chinese industrial titans: Changan Automobile, CATL, and Huawei. Founded in 2018, the company leverages Changan's extensive vehicle R&D and manufacturing expertise, CATL's leadership in battery technology, and Huawei's comprehensive intelligent vehicle solutions. This unique tripartite partnership, dubbed "CHN", forms the foundation of AVATR's business model, enabling it to develop and produce high-end SEVs that integrate cutting-edge technology. Although initially formed as a joint venture with Nio in 2018, Nio's subsequent withdrawal paved the way for the current powerhouse alliance.
Headquartered in Chongqing, China, with additional branches in Shanghai and Munich, Germany, AVATR is on an ambitious global expansion trajectory. The company generates revenue through the sale of its premium electric vehicles, which command an average transaction price exceeding 270,000 yuan. Its business operations are bolstered by significant capital infusions, including a Series C funding round in late 2024 that raised over 11 billion yuan (approximately $1.5 billion), supporting new model development, global expansion, and brand building ahead of a planned IPO in 2026. Changan Automobile remains the largest shareholder with a 40.99% stake, while CATL and other investment firms hold the remaining shares. Huawei, while not an equity holder, is a deeply integrated strategic partner, co-developing the vehicles and supplying its full-stack smart car solutions.
AVATR's product lineup is built on the proprietary CHN intelligent EV technology platform, which is scalable for various vehicle types including SUVs and sedans. The portfolio includes the Avatr 11, a futuristic luxury SUV, and the Avatr 12, a luxury gran coupe. These vehicles are offered in both pure electric (BEV) and range-extended (EREV) versions to cater to different consumer needs. A key differentiator is the integration of Huawei's advanced technology, including the ADS (Advanced Driving System) for high-level intelligent driving assistance, the HarmonyOS for an intuitive smart cockpit, and a robust thermal management system that enhances range in low temperatures. The vehicles are equipped with an array of sensors, including multiple LiDARs, to enable sophisticated autonomous driving features. CATL provides high-performance battery packs, enabling long driving ranges and high-voltage fast charging, which can add 200km of range in just 10 minutes.
