His career also includes significant tenures at AT&T Bell Laboratories and as a professor at New York University. The startup's direction is informed by LeCun's skepticism of large language models (LLMs) as the sole path to achieving human-level or super-human intelligence. Instead, the venture will explore and build upon the concept of world models, which aim to provide AI with a deeper, more causal understanding of the world, akin to common sense reasoning.
