a16z: GPU rental prices are up across the board in 2026, even for six-year-old A100s

Andreessen Horowitz's Charts of the Week, citing Ornn Data, says every GPU model it tracks costs more to rent than at the start of the year: roughly +160% for Nvidia H200, +120% for B200, +65% for RTX PRO 6000 and +35% for H100, and even the A100 rents for more than in January. Against straight-line six-year depreciation, current prices are 9% to 143% higher than expected, a16z's Moses Sternstein writes, with the steep rise starting in April as token demand on OpenRouter inflected. He notes older A100s and H100s spent long stretches below the depreciation line, and that the indices are imperfect proxies.
