Warhound launches with $200M seed to clone and gene-edit US military working dogs, conceived by Palmer Luckey and Colossal's Ben Lamm

Texas-based Warhound emerged from stealth on 22 October with a $200 million seed round from investors including In-Q-Tel, Sequoia Capital, ARK Invest, Franklin Templeton, 8VC and Lux Capital; TechCrunch reports a $1.2 billion valuation. Conceived by Anduril founder Palmer Luckey and Colossal Biosciences co-founder Ben Lamm, it plans to biobank, clone and gene-edit top working dogs, using Colossal's technology to screen out inherited diseases, and equip them with Anduril armour and sensors. More than 80% of US military working dogs come from Europe and fewer than half pass training. CEO is former Pentagon chief data officer David Spirk; first puppies are expected in early 2027. Luckey and Anduril hold no equity; Colossal owns a stake.
