Boom Supersonic unveils its first turbine core and a $150M Superfactory to build up to 2GW of AI data-centre turbines a year
Boom Supersonic on 22 October unveiled Sprint Core, the first prototype core of the turbine behind both its 42MW Superpower natural gas turbine for AI data centres and the Symphony engine for its Overture airliner; first firing is expected before Thanksgiving. It also opened a nearly 200,000 sq ft, $150 million Superpower Superfactory in Centennial, Colorado, which already makes parts, targets first deliveries in mid-2027 and plans 1GW (25 turbines) a year by 2028 and 2GW by 2029, with up to 500 jobs. Boom is also building an all-digital foundry for single-crystal blades. US Energy Secretary Chris Wright and Governor Jared Polis attended; Boom says it has a customer pipeline but has named none.
