AutoRouter opens beta of a Mac app that routes each Codex and Claude Code prompt to the best-fit model

AutoRouter opened its beta on 22 October: a Mac app that adds an 'AutoRouter' model to Codex and Claude Code and routes each turn to the model best suited to the task, using the ChatGPT and Claude plans developers already pay for first. Hard work such as multi-file refactors goes to frontier models, while quick tasks like commit messages go to low-cost open models; users can write routing rules in plain English and see which model handled each turn and what it cost. Other models are billed at provider price plus 10%. It follows a public alpha on 15 October, and support for Claude Desktop, ChatGPT and browser apps is listed as coming soon.
