OpenAI's annualised revenue is about $20bn below the $70bn reported, FT says
The Financial Times reports that financial documents shared with investors show OpenAI's annualised revenue was approaching $50bn at the end of September, roughly $20bn below the near-$70bn figure reported in late September. The FT says the higher number came from OpenAI's own investors trying to compare it directly with Anthropic's run rate, and the two labs count revenue differently: Anthropic includes sales made through its cloud partners, OpenAI does not. TickerTrends, a KPI-tracking firm, says its own tracking put OpenAI at $50.44bn on 28 September, within about 1% of the figure given to investors. TechCrunch notes OpenAI's IPO, once rumoured for this year, has been pushed to early 2027.
