Amsterdam-based startup Firsty recently secured €1.1 million in pre-seed funding to revolutionize cross-border mobile data usage. Founded by ex-Adyen Technical Product Managers Vince Vissers and Gauthier Thierens, Firsty aims to make mobile connectivity accessible globally through a user-friendly app.
The company addresses long-standing issues with international mobile data, such as expensive bundles and complicated plans. Firsty's solution leverages eSIM technology to provide seamless, automatic switching between providers without user intervention.
Firsty's funding round was led by former KPN executives Marcel Smits and Godert Vinkesteijn, along with Patrick Stal, previously head of marketing at Uber and N26. The investment will support product development and launch.
The startup offers Firsty Free, providing users with a basic connectivity lifeline, and the option to enhance data speed instantly. Firsty emphasizes transparency in fees and prioritizes user satisfaction over profits.
A beta version of the Firsty app is set to launch across Europe, the UK, Turkey, Switzerland, and the USA, with global coverage planned for Q1 2024. The company's mission is to make mobile data connectivity accessible worldwide, simplifying the experience for travelers and expats.
