What's the deal? French video game and digital solutions studio KalankDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has closed its first funding round of €1.5 million ($1.7 million) to accelerate international expansion. The early VC round was led by Crédit Agricole Charente-PérigordDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → Expansion, the local private equity subsidiary of Crédit Agricole Charente-Périgord, with KPA SPVDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → also participating.
What's the endgame? Founded in 2017 by Baptiste Deneufbourg and Adrien Carta, Kalank operates from Angoulême and Paris with about 30 staff. The money will fund its creative and technical teams, help retain talent in France, and speed up publishing, where it aims to handle marketing and distribution for other studios.
Why now? Kalank also leads a consortium — with Augmenty, Inversive XRDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, and Brain Analytics Technologies — selected for the France 2030 call on immersive virtual worlds. The BTMRSA2 project will run for 36 months to build a sovereign, agnostic mixed reality technology block, using AI for spatial analysis and content generation.
"This funding round gives us the means to turn our creative vision into reality and accelerate our growth," said co-founders Deneufbourg and Carta.
The signal: The round is modest, but it lands as European games funding has cratered. Tech.eu data shows European gaming companies raised €128 million in equity in the first half of 2026, down 90.6% year on year, with France accounting for just €8 million — making a regional bank's bet on a French studio a notable vote of confidence.
