APA raises €550M in oversubscribed bond sale to refinance 2027 debt
What's the deal? Australian energy infrastructure group APADealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has priced €550 million of 10-year senior unsecured notes, a post-IPO debt raise announced in November 2026. The proceeds will partly fund the early redemption of €650 million in notes maturing in March 2027.
Why now? The deal proactively refinances APA's upcoming debt maturity, extends its maturity profile, and maintains what the company calls a "diverse funding base." Holders of the 2027 notes have been given notice of early redemption at par on December 7, 2026.
By the numbers: The final orderbook topped €1.35 billion — roughly 2.5 times the issue size. The notes carry a fixed Australian-dollar interest rate of 6.69% a year once swapped, equal to US$573.9M in principal.
Chief financial officer Garrick Rollason said the demand "reflects continued confidence from global debt investors in APA and the quality and resilience of our business."
What's the endgame? APA owns and operates more than $20 billion of gas transmission, storage, battery, and electricity transmission assets, delivering about half of Australia's domestic gas. The raise positions its balance sheet to fund a roughly $3.5 billion organic growth pipeline across FY27 to FY29, Rollason said.
The company aims to keep its BBB/Baa2 investment-grade credit ratings while staying "disciplined in allocating capital."
The signal: At €550 million, this ranks among the largest post-IPO debt raises in Australian energy, above the 92nd percentile of 222 comparable deals. The oversubscription points to steady institutional appetite for established infrastructure credit as APA refinances ahead of maturity rather than under pressure.
