Japan's WellBe raises $360K seed to book beauty visits for tourists

What's the deal? WellBeDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a Tokyo-based startup running a beauty and wellness booking platform for foreign visitors to Japan, has raised US$423.1K (roughly $360,000) in a seed round. The funding, announced in September 2026, combined a third-party share allotment with bank loans. NAGALABDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → led the round.

What does WellBe do? It connects inbound tourists with Japanese salons by bundling multilingual support, booking, advance payment, and interpretation. The aim is to capture overseas demand without adding operational burden for salons.

Why now? Japanese beauty services are known for skill and hospitality, but language, booking, payment, and cultural gaps have long deterred foreign users. WellBe has already built a network of several hundred partner outlets, concentrated in Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, and Fukuoka.

What's the money for? WellBe plans to grow its partner network in stages, targeting 10,000 outlets long term. It will also deepen ties with travel agencies, hotels, airlines, transport operators, and Google to reach travellers at more points before and during their trips.

What's the endgame? Beauty is the entry point. WellBe intends to extend its multilingual booking and payment infrastructure into dentistry, aesthetic medicine, and preventive care, aiming to become a distribution layer for the broader inbound healthcare market.

Investor view: NAGALAB chief executive officer Takayuki Asano cited the industry's structural problem, roughly 600,000 salons competing for domestic customers and driving up acquisition costs. WellBe, he said, is "trying to expand the Japanese beauty market itself" by drawing in overseas demand.

The signal: The round is small, but it targets a specific inefficiency: Japan's strong beauty and wellness sector remains hard for foreign visitors to access. If WellBe can turn tourist bookings into a repeatable channel, its beauty-to-healthcare playbook points to where inbound services could head next.
