Land-Grant buys shuttered Nocterra, reviving brewery in Powell
What's the deal? Land-Grant Brewing CompanyDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has acquired Nocterra Brewing and plans to reopen the shuttered brewery at its flagship Powell location in Central Ohio. The acquisition has officially closed, though terms were not disclosed.
Why now? Nocterra abruptly closed both its Powell and Columbus taprooms on August 31, describing the move as a temporary "pause" and citing hospitality-industry pressures. In September, its website teased a comeback, reading "Something's brewing, stay tuned."
What's the endgame? Land-Grant, a Columbus brewery, will operate a brewery at Nocterra's 41 Depot Street site in Powell. Liquor-permit filings point to a change there, but it remains unclear whether Nocterra beer will return under its own brand.
What changes? The deal gives Nocterra — an eight-year-old brand that at its peak was one of Columbus's largest breweries — a route back under a better-resourced operator. Nocterra did not renew permits for its former Audubon taproom, which expired October 1.
What could go wrong? Central Ohio's craft market is strained. Outerbelt BrewingDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → near Lancaster closed in October, several local breweries and taprooms announced closures this year, and US craft-beer production continued to decline in 2026.
The signal: The reopening is notable less as evidence of a sector rebound than as a chance to preserve a popular venue and brand through consolidation, as stronger operators absorb struggling peers in a shrinking market.
