Try Dealroom → and 3-GISDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →. Terms were not disclosed. SSP is an EsriDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → Platinum Partner focused on utility GIS consulting; 3-GIS makes AI-enabled network management software for telecom, electric, and gas networks.

What's the endgame? SAM wants to serve customers across the full infrastructure lifecycle — planning, design, construction, operations, and modernization. The deal pairs its surveying, LiDAR, and inspection work with SSP's consulting and 3-GIS's software.

Why now? The acquisition follows a clear growth push. New Mountain CapitalDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → took a majority stake in SAM in July 2026, and it has since added regional surveying and infrastructure firms.

What each side brings: SSP has completed more than 100 major utility transformation projects across North America, spanning GIS deployments and Esri Utility Network migrations. 3-GIS offers cloud-native software that connects network planning, asset inventory, and operations.

"SSP Innovations and 3-GIS bring deep industry expertise, proven technology capabilities, and strong customer relationships that align well with SAM's growth strategy," said Chris Solomon, SAM's chief executive officer.

Patrick Vardeman, chief executive officer of SSP Innovations and 3-GIS, said joining SAM is "a tremendous opportunity to build on our momentum." The two firms separated SSP's consulting focus from 3-GIS's software business in a 2025 realignment.

The signal: This is a more strategic move than SAM's earlier footprint-building deals, bundling services and software into one offering for utility and telecom network modernization. The announced AI capabilities remain positioning rather than proven gains; with terms undisclosed, the deal's scale is hard to judge.
