Harbinger has now raised over $650 million since its founding in 2021.

Why now? The round follows a major commercial win. In September, FedEx ordered 2,000 of Harbinger's all-electric trucks in a deal valued at more than $300 million.

What's the endgame? The new funds will ramp up medium-duty manufacturing and fund Harbinger's push into new verticals. "We led this financing because we see tremendous value in bringing Harbinger's technical expertise and manufacturing capabilities to new markets," said Griffin Schroeder, a partner at Tiger Global.

What could go wrong? The commercial-EV market remains difficult, with several startups having failed and others facing scale-up and financing challenges. Harbinger's payoff hinges on converting its large FedEx order into reliable production and deliveries.

The signal: At $240 million, this ranks above the 94th percentile of all-time US Series D rounds in energy, from a sample of 210. It signals investor appetite for electrification plays positioned at the intersection of mobility, defense, and the power demands of the AI economy.
