SSP UK buys commercial insurance software firm IS2 in first standalone deal

What's the deal? SSP UK & Ireland has acquired IS2Dealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a provider of commercial lines policy administration and product distribution technology. The deal value was not disclosed. IS2 serves insurers, insurtechs, managing general agents (MGAs), and scheme brokers.

Who are they? SSP is an insurance software provider; IS2, formed in 1996, builds e-trading and distribution tools. Its platforms include Atlas, an API-first policy administration system, and RAPID, which lets insurers distribute scheme products across multiple channels without creating duplicate product versions.

What changes? IS2 will retain its own brand and continue under founder and managing director Simon Pritchard, alongside its existing management team. "Customers will see the same team and the same service," Pritchard said.

Why now? It is SSP UK & Ireland's first acquisition since becoming a standalone business, and management signalled more to come. In May, the company said it would pursue M&A alongside organic growth to fill product gaps.

What's the endgame? The deal extends SSP into commercial product distribution and e-trading. "It places us at the heart of commercial product distribution, working directly with the insurers, MGAs and scheme brokers who own and distribute these products," said Martyn Mathews, managing director of SSP UK & Ireland.

The signal: UK insurance distribution dealmaking has cooled in 2026, but interest is concentrating in specialist and technology-led businesses. SSP's purchase reads as targeted software expansion rather than evidence of a broader M&A surge.
