Dr Lal PathLabs commits up to $5.9M to Dubai arm for Ghana push

What's the deal? Dr. Lal PathLabsDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has approved up to US$6.72M in cash for its wholly owned Dubai subsidiary, Dr. Lal PathLabs FZCO. Up to US$4.07M of that is earmarked for further investment in Sunshine Healthcare, its diagnostics business in Ghana. The company expects to complete the transaction by March 31, 2027, subject to regulatory approvals.

Why Dubai? LPL Dubai, incorporated on June 12, 2026, is the vehicle for the company's overseas strategic investments in diagnostics, including acquisitions, tie-ups, and joint ventures. It has already invested in Sunshine Healthcare, making the Ghanaian business its subsidiary.

What about the numbers? Sunshine Healthcare reported FY26 turnover of US$3.31M, up from US$3.26M the year before and US$2.95M in FY24. Growth slowed sharply: turnover rose just US$54.3K between FY25 and FY26, after a US$312.3K gain the prior year.

How big is the bet? The US$6.72M ceiling is modest against LPL's standalone cash of US$37.9M as of September 30, 2026, plus US$95.2M in bank balances and US$66.5M in current investments. The company did not disclose how the remaining US$2.65M would be used.

What's missing? LPL did not disclose Sunshine Healthcare's profit, test volumes, network size, or a revised ownership stake in the Ghana business. The deal is a related-party transaction, which the company said will be conducted at arm's length.

The signal: The move extends LPL's measured push abroad, which follows a 70% stake buy in genomics firm SN Genelab. But with Ghana revenue flat and the commitment small relative to the company's scale, this is a longer-term bet rather than evidence of a material overseas contribution.
