Sweden's Presto buys Portugal's Segmon in European expansion push

What's the deal? Sweden's PrestoDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → Group has acquired Segmon, a Portuguese fire safety company, marking its entry into Portugal. Terms were not disclosed. Segmon keeps its brand and management team while joining Presto's international structure.

Who are they? Founded in Sweden in 1959, Presto specialises in active fire protection and safety training across Europe. Segmon, founded in Coimbra in 2006, designs, installs, and maintains fire protection systems.

What changes? The deal gives Presto a local base of roughly 50 employees, four locations, and more than 5,000 customers. Segmon will be able to collaborate with other Presto companies, including Spain's Eurofesa, to serve clients operating across borders.

Why now? The acquisition extends a consolidation drive in which Presto has bought local operators in Germany, Finland, and Spain during 2026. Portugal adds another market to its European network.

What's the endgame? Presto wants to build a leading European safety business through regional acquisitions. "Entering Portugal is an important step on our journey to become Europe's leading safety partner," said chief executive officer Staffan Pehrson.

The advisers: Law firm SRS Legal advised Presto on the transaction, with a team led by Alexandra Valente, partner for its corporate and finance department. She called the deal "an important step in the international expansion of Presto Group" that "demonstrates the potential of specialised Portuguese companies to join international groups" (translated from Portuguese).

The signal: Europe's fragmented fire safety market is consolidating, as larger groups roll up local specialists to build cross-border scale. Presto's steady, country-by-country buying shows how that strategy plays out — with founders staying on and brands kept intact to retain customers.
