Lexar Partners backs Dutch fibre-software firm Speer IT to fuel European push

What's the deal? Lexar PartnersDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has acquired a stake in Speer IT, a Dutch maker of software for fibre network registration and management. The growth partnership will fund international expansion, product development, and a stronger organisation. Financial terms and the size of the stake were not disclosed.

What does Speer IT do? For more than 25 years, it has built software that lets telecom operators, network owners, and contractors register and manage fibre infrastructure. Its platforms Cocon Fiber and Cocon The Web cover more than 7 million connected addresses and over 1,500,000km of registered cable.

What's the endgame? The roughly 50-person company wants to defend its lead in the Netherlands while expanding across Europe. It also plans to invest in its software platform and soon appoint an experienced chief technology officer.

Why now? Demand for reliable network data and asset management grows as fibre networks scale in size and complexity. The deal follows Lexar Fund II's €164 million close in early 2026, giving the investor fresh capacity to back portfolio growth.

What stays the same? Kees Jonker remains chief executive officer and a shareholder, and the existing management team stays in place. "With Lexar Partners, we are bringing on board a partner who will help us realise our international ambitions," Jonker said.

The signal: This is a strategic bet on a specialist software provider rather than a sign of a sector-wide funding surge. Lexar is backing deep industry expertise and a strong niche position to scale a proven business across Europe.
