HOUMO.AI raises billions of yuan in Series B as M50 chip lands 150+ design wins

What's the deal? Chinese compute-in-memory AI chip maker HOUMO.AI has closed a Series B round worth several billion yuan, according to a report from Jiemian citing people familiar with the matter. Investors include industrial capital from across the supply chain, state-backed funds, and international investors, with multiple existing shareholders adding to their stakes.

What's the endgame? HOUMO.AI builds AI chips using a compute-in-memory architecture aimed at running large models on edge and end-point devices. Its M50 chip reached mass production in February 2026, delivering 160 TOPS of INT8 compute at roughly 10W and supporting local models of 35B to 122B parameters.

What's the money for? The company said the round will fund scaled delivery of the M50, research on its next-generation M6X and 3D CIM products, and continued work on its software toolchain and ecosystem.

Why now? HOUMO.AI disclosed at its partner conference that the M50 has secured more than 150 product design wins and over 100 customers in under a year of production, spanning agent computers, smart mobile devices, robotics, and edge inference.

What could go wrong? Design wins are not the same as volume shipments or revenue. The commercial case for HOUMO.AI's compute-in-memory approach still rests on whether those wins convert to scale and repeat orders.

The signal: Capital is flowing into edge and on-device AI chips, with several Chinese firms disclosing fresh rounds in recent months. Frost & SullivanDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → projects the global on-device AI market will grow from US$44.3B in US$278.4T to US$167.8B by 2029, a 40% compound annual rate — a demand curve investors are now betting local inference chips can capture.
