MediWound raises $15M to fund its chronic wound push

What's the deal? MediWound, an Israel-based maker of enzymatic therapeutics for tissue repair, has raised roughly $15 million in a bought deal offering of ordinary shares. H.C. Wainwright & Co.Dealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → is buying 1,200,000 shares at $12.50 each on a firm commitment basis, acting as sole book-running manager. The offering is expected to close on or about November 5, 2026.

The fine print: MediWound granted the underwriter a 30-day option to buy up to 180,000 additional shares at the same price. The company plans to use the net proceeds for working capital and general corporate purposes.

Why now? MediWound is financing an expensive late-stage push. Its EscharEx Phase III trial in venous leg ulcers is enrolling internationally, with completion and an interim assessment expected by the end of Q1 2027.

What's the endgame? The Nasdaq-listed company already sells NexoBrid, an FDA-approved biologic for removing eschar in thermal burns, across the US, EU, and Japan. EscharEx, its late-stage candidate for debriding chronic wounds, could become a new standard of care in wound management.

The signal: This raise follows a $30 million registered direct offering in September 2025, pointing to continued cash needs rather than a one-off. At $15 million, it sits below most comparable rounds in the sector — a modest top-up to carry MediWound toward its next clinical and commercial milestones.
