i-plug acquires intern-jobs platform Renew to court students early

What's the deal? I-plug, the Osaka-based operator of new-graduate recruiting service OfferBox, has acquired all shares of RenewDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a Nagoya startup running a long-term internship job site. Renew joined the i-plug group on October 1, 2026. The deal value was not disclosed.

What does Renew do? Renew operates a long-term internship job site usable from the first year of university, plus the careers media site Renew Magazine. Students apply to listed companies, receive scouts, and get free consultations with career advisers.

Why now? Job hunting in Japan is starting earlier, raising the value of early self-understanding and hands-on work experience. Renew said it lacked the reach and resources to deliver that to more students on its own.

What's the endgame? I-plug aims to become the platform "most chosen by the young generation that will shape the future." Beyond OfferBox, it runs OfferBox mirai, a self-exploration career service for younger undergraduates, and wants to support students from early-stage career education through job hunting.

What changes? Renew plans to expand job listings and strengthen its career-adviser support. Linking with OfferBox and OfferBox mirai, it will connect companies with i-plug's student base and build earlier mutual understanding through internships.

The signal: I-plug, which listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange in 2021, is consolidating early-career recruiting under one roof — folding internships into a pipeline that now reaches students years before they graduate.
