China's CQMTEK raises $75M Series B at $700M valuation for quantum sensing

What's the deal? CQMTEK, a Chinese quantum precision measurement company based in Huzhou, Zhejiang, has raised more than US$68.8M in a Series B round. The round was co-led by CICC Capital and Zhecai Innovation, with participation from Yanhai Fund, Yongshang Private Fund, Shenzhen High-Tech InvestmentDealroom has a profile for this one. What's the endgame? The company builds core quantum sensing hardware, including chip-scale atomic clocks, stabilised lasers, quantum magnetometers, and time-frequency systems. It says it has achieved fully domestic batch manufacturing of chip-scale atomic clocks, serving sectors from power systems and AI to defence and aerospace.

Where the money goes: Funds will target production capacity, supply-chain self-sufficiency, automated production lines, and series product development. The plan points to a bet on scaled delivery, not just research.

By the numbers: The round pushes CQMTEK's valuation past US$687.5M and lifts total funding above US$137.5M. Several existing backers — including CICC Capital, Zhecai Innovation, and Yanhai Fund — added to their stakes.

Why now? China recently classified quantum technology as a future industry and is pushing firms to connect with applications in energy, transport, and other sectors. Other quantum sensing startups raised money this year, but at far smaller scale.

Why it stands out: At roughly $75 million, the round sits near the top of its field — in the 90th percentile of Series B rounds for quantum technology companies in China over the trailing 48 months, across 1,202 deals.

What could go wrong? Many local application projects remain at the pilot stage. A large round and high valuation do not yet prove steady, large-scale commercial demand.

The signal: The round marks a shift in quantum sensing from lab results toward manufacturing and customer validation. Investors are now backing companies that can produce core components at volume — and CQMTEK's capital and valuation suggest the sector's centre of gravity is moving to the factory floor.
