I Squared raises $3B for second infrastructure credit fund, double its target
What's the deal? I Squared CapitalDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has closed its ISQ Global Infrastructure Credit Fund II at more than $2.4 billion, with co-investment commitments lifting the total strategy to $3 billion. That is double the original $1.5 billion target and four times the size of the predecessor fund.
What's the endgame? The fund lends to mid-market businesses that own and operate essential infrastructure — power generation and grids, fiber networks, data centers, and ports and logistics. Loans are mostly senior, secured by physical assets, and backed by contracted or regulated cash flows across North America and Europe.
It has already committed about 37% of its capital across seven investments, drawing on the networks and operating experience of I Squared's equity platform, which has invested in infrastructure since 2012.
Why now? "Infrastructure credit has become a standalone asset class," said Gautam Bhandari, co-founder and global chief investment officer. "As capital markets reprice risk, owners of essential infrastructure need partners who can provide flexible capital through the cycle," added fund partner David Rosenblum.
The signal: Demand for dedicated infrastructure lending is building. The close follows CarlyleDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →'s September raise of about $2.3 billion for its own second infrastructure-credit fund, also above target and more than triple its predecessor — a sign that institutional investors are leaning into assets with stable, long-term revenues.
