Ziraat Bank Azerbaijan raises $8.8M in debut bond issue, oversubscribed fourfold

What's the deal? Ziraat BankDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → Azerbaijan has issued 15 million manat ($8.8 million) in bonds, its debut placement on the Baku Stock Exchange. The bank sold 150,000 bonds at a nominal value of 100 manat ($58.8) each via public offering, with the securities registered on October 1, 2026.

Who bought in? The offering drew more than 140 investors, and demand exceeded the offer volume by more than four times, according to bank management. PASHA CapitalDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → acted as placement agent, with support from the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, the Baku Stock Exchange, and the National Depository Center.

Why now? The issue rode a wave of modernisation at the Baku Stock Exchange, which deployed an electronic platform to widen access. "Conducting the process through an electronic platform enabled a broader range of investors and members of the public to participate," said PASHA Capital chief executive officer Isi Mustafayev.

What's the endgame? Established in 2014 as a subsidiary of Türkiye's Ziraat Bank, the lender framed the placement as a step toward expanding its capital market operations. Management said strong demand lays a foundation for regular bond issuances ahead.

The signal: The deal reflects a modest pickup in Azerbaijan's corporate bond market, where the exchange reported 85.8 million manat of corporate and state-enterprise placements in the first half of 2026. With exchange officials noting that similar issuances once drew just 10 to 15 institutional investors, the fourfold oversubscription points to a market broadening beyond traditional bank lending.
