Modaxo buys Brazil's Fiscaltech, adding 4,000 traffic lanes

What's the deal? ModaxoDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a global transport-technology group, has acquired Fiscaltech, a Brazil-based provider of intelligent mobility systems. The deal, announced November 3, 2026, covers traffic control and monitoring, tolling, and weigh-in-motion. Terms were not disclosed.

What each side brings: Fiscaltech has built intelligent transportation systems in Brazil for 30 years, with products spanning traffic management, automatic toll collection, and precision weigh-in-motion. Its systems help manage more than 4,000 lanes of traffic across 25 Brazilian states.

What's the endgame? The acquisition extends Modaxo beyond public-transit software into intelligent road and traffic systems, and gives it a substantial foothold in South America. "This acquisition broadens Modaxo's offer in traffic management and gives us a strong platform to grow our reach across Brazil and South America," said Rod Jones, Modaxo's head of Americas, Australia, and New Zealand.

What changes? Fiscaltech will keep its own brand and remain led by chief executive officer Fernando Varella. More than 250 employees will join Modaxo as part of the transaction.

Why now? Varella pointed to Modaxo's approach as the draw. "We admire Modaxo's commitment to long-term investment in the businesses it acquires," he said.

The signal: The deal fits Modaxo's pattern of buying specialist transport-technology businesses while retaining their brands and management, as with ticketing provider FARA. The emphasis here is strategic breadth and regional reach, rather than a headline price tag.
