Inspiration Mining buys Québec phosphate property, plans $450K raise

What's the deal? Inspiration MiningDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has agreed to acquire a 100% interest in the CH-98 phosphate property in Québec's Lac-Saint-Jean region from Beauce Gold FieldsDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →. Inspiration will issue 10 million common shares for the roughly 6,164-hectare site, which spans 111 mining claims. The deal is subject to regulatory approval.

What else is happening? Alongside the acquisition, Inspiration launched a non-brokered private placement to raise up to $450,000 for working capital. It is offering up to 9 million units at $0.05 each, with each unit including one share and one warrant exercisable at $0.10 for 24 months.

Why now? Canada added phosphorus to its Critical Minerals List in 2024, and Québec designated apatite as a critical and strategic mineral the same year. Phosphate is used in fertiliser and is a potential feedstock for battery materials.

What's the endgame? CH-98 sits near Arianne PhosphateDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →'s Lac à Paul project and First PhosphateDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →'s Bégin-Lamarche deposit, placing Inspiration in a recognised phosphate district. Historic sampling returned up to 8.59% P2O5, and flotation tests produced a concentrate grading up to 38.9% P2O5 at 93.4% recovery. Inspiration plans to commission an NI 43-101 technical report to advance the property.

What could go wrong? The company cautions that historic grades do not represent average grade, continuity, or economic feasibility across the property. Lab recovery results do not guarantee commercial-scale performance, and suitability for uses such as purified phosphoric acid or battery materials needs further validation.

The signal: Québec's phosphate belt is drawing strategic money — First Phosphate secured up to US$12.2M in federal support in March, while Arianne extended about US$18M in credit for Lac à Paul. Those projects show both the interest in domestic phosphate and the heavy financing hurdles involved. Inspiration's deal is far earlier-stage, and its significance will hinge on follow-up technical work rather than the announcement alone.
