AllianzGI closes €1.5B infrastructure credit fund, well past its €1B target
What's the deal? Allianz Global InvestorsDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has held the final close of Allianz Infrastructure Credit Opportunities Fund II (AICOF II), raising €1.5 billion from investors across Europe and Asia. The figure comfortably beats the fund's original €1 billion target.
What's the endgame? AICOF II invests in senior and subordinated infrastructure debt across the capital structure, targeting energy, transport, communications, and environmental and social infrastructure. It is the second vintage of the AICOF strategy, which launched in June 2024 and held its first close of €533 million in December 2024.
Why now? Deployment is already well advanced, with roughly €1 billion committed to date across sectors including energy transition, digital, and social infrastructure. AllianzGI said it plans to launch a successor fund to continue the strategy.
"This final closing reflects sustained demand from institutional investors for flexible infrastructure debt strategies," said Matthew Norman, head of infrastructure debt at Allianz Global Investors. He added that the firm's platform lets it invest "across sectors and at multiple levels of the capital structure."
The signal: AllianzGI's oversubscribed raise sits within a buoyant market for European infrastructure debt. EIG recently closed a $1.9 billion senior debt fund, and BNP Paribas AM AltsDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → raised about €1.2 billion for its European junior debt strategy — pointing to strong institutional appetite for long-term financing tied to essential assets in energy and digital.
