Greece's PPC buys Romanian electronics retailer Flanco for €35M
What's the deal? Greek energy group PPCDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has signed an agreement to buy Romanian electronics and IT retailer FlancoDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → in a deal valuing the company at €35 million. PPC is buying from entrepreneur Iulian Stanciu, who holds 98%, and Dragoș Sîrbu, who owns the remaining 2%.
What each side brings: Flanco runs 150 stores across more than 100 Romanian cities, employs over 1,200 people, and posts annual revenue of €269 million. Its network reaches more than 55% of Romanian households and draws over 14 million store visits a year.
How it works: PPC will make the purchase through KotsovolosDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, the Greek electronics retailer it owns outright and acquired in 2024. The deal gives PPC the second-largest physical electronics-and-IT store network in Romania, a market worth roughly €3.6 billion.
What's the endgame? PPC wants to pair electronics sales with energy services. It plans to use Flanco's stores to promote, distribute, and service solar panels, heat pumps, and EV chargers, and to develop bundles combining appliances with energy supply.
Why now? The acquisition sits inside PPC's 2026–2030 strategy to expand across Southeastern Europe. PPC entered Romania in 2023 by taking over Enel's local operations, and it is now replicating the integrated retail-and-energy model it built in Greece.
"The agreement to acquire Flanco marks an important shift for Kotsovolos," said chief executive officer Christos Karagiannakis, describing the move as exporting "a successful retail model" to Romania (translated from Romanian).
The terms: Kotsovolos will fund the deal entirely from its own cash, with no borrowing. PwC MA Consulting Services advised the buyer financially, and law firm Suciu Partners handled legal advice.
What could go wrong? Completion is expected by the end of 2026 but hinges on regulatory approval and other agreed conditions.
The signal: The deal shows energy utilities moving into customer-facing retail to sell the hardware behind the energy transition. For PPC, Flanco's stores, logistics, and large customer base become a distribution channel for products the group is betting Romanian households will buy.
