Dispatch raises $527K pre-seed to build AI layer for last-mile delivery

What's the deal? Pune-based last-mile delivery startup Dispatch has raised US$679K (roughly $527,000) in a pre-seed round led by Antler IndiaDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →. Angel investors Krishi Fagwani, Yashin Mahadevia, and Parth Modwadhia also took part. It is the company's first public funding announcement.

What's the endgame? Dispatch is building a foundation AI model for intracity logistics it calls the Large Logistics Spatio-Temporal Model, or LLSTM. The system decides which order a rider should take next and where to wait for the following one, sequencing work across platforms rather than handling orders in isolation.

Why it matters: Riders can cover up to 50% of their kilometres without an order, bearing the cost themselves, according to Dispatch. The company says its model has cut empty kilometres by two-thirds, with riders taking home around 55% more each month than the industry average.

Dispatch serves platforms including Zomato, Swiggy, Zepto, InstamartDealroom has a profile for this one. Its website reports more than 25,000 deliveries for over 1,000 merchants, though those are company-reported figures.

The expansion: Dispatch plans to launch in Mumbai in November, its first move beyond Pune. The round will fund that push and further development of the LLSTM, which founders describe as trained on Pune's city-level movement data.

What founders say: Cofounder and chief executive officer Rajit Arya said the startup is tackling "structural inefficiencies in the last-mile delivery ecosystem," where platforms face rider shortages even as partners spend time travelling without orders. Cofounder Navneeth Kannan, who leads product and AI, called Pune "the company's training ground."

The signal: At roughly $527,000, the round sits in the smaller tier of logistics raises — below FreightFoxDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →'s US$679K for enterprise software or InamoDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →'s $8 million for quick-commerce infrastructure. Investor appetite for logistics efficiency remains steady, but Dispatch's significance will hinge on whether it can prove repeat business and expand reliably beyond one city.
