Fundraise

Tollan spins out a studio and raises a first round for pixel-art space game Loot Planets

What's the deal? Tollan Games Studio, formed from the Tollan Universe development team, has closed its first funding round, the company announced in October 2026. It disclosed neither the amount, valuation, nor its investors. The round backs Loot Planets, a pixel-art space game built around fleet construction, planetary conquest, and loot collection.

The traction: Tollan says its existing title, Tollan Universe, drew more than 50,000 players and generated over $1 million in revenue in 10 months. The studio published those figures via social media, and independent verification remains unavailable. They give the team a commercial signal as it prepares a second game.

What's the endgame? Tollan Universe is a free-to-play competitive action roguelike on PC and web, with an in-game currency, Crowns, that players buy with ETH or earn through missions. The new studio frames Loot Planets as a fresh title under a new corporate vehicle for the franchise.

Why now? The raise coincides with a disruptive platform shift. After Abstract — the network that hosted the game, backed by the Pudgy Penguins team — said it would shut down, Tollan moved to Robinhood Chain and is asking users to migrate accounts and assets. It is also migrating Genesis Avatars and items to Ethereum Mainnet, with a December 14 deadline after which unmigrated NFTs become unrecoverable.

What could go wrong? The franchise has a rocky history. Foretold Studios, which built the game, faced financial difficulties in August 2024, with reported salary problems and chief executive officer Michael Kuvshynov acknowledging fundraising challenges. The announcement does not clarify the legal or operational relationship between Tollan Games Studio and Foretold Studios.

The signal: Carrying an audience across shifting blockchain infrastructure while building a second game is the central test for Tollan. The funding is backing not just a new title, but a studio betting its migrated players will follow.
