Ringmetall buys US bag-in-box maker Rapak in its fourth deal of 2026
What's the deal? Germany's Ringmetall SEDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has agreed to acquire 100% of Rapak, LLC, an Indianapolis- and Woodridge-based maker of bag-in-box packaging and filling systems for food, beverages, and industrial liquids. The purchase price was not disclosed. Closing is scheduled for November 2.
What each side brings: Rapak generates around $20 million in annual revenue with roughly 50 employees. Ringmetall is an international supplier of industrial packaging, including closure systems and inner liners for drums used in the chemical, pharmaceutical, and food industries.
What's the endgame? The deal hands Ringmetall a North American foothold in the growing US bag-in-box market and strengthens its Liner division. The company says the acquisition makes it the fourth-largest bag-in-box systems manufacturer worldwide.
Why now? Rapak is the fourth acquisition Ringmetall has made in 2026, following Turkish liner maker MakplastDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, the thermoforming division of New England Plastics, and a majority stake in South African producer Vinbag. The deal will be financed with own funds and agreed credit lines.
"We owe the fact that we are able to acquire at this rate to our integration strength," said co-chief executive officer Christoph Petri. He added that the company integrates new businesses "without neglecting the operating business."
The signal: With roughly $20 million in revenue, Rapak is a targeted bolt-on rather than a transformational deal, and the undisclosed price makes the valuation hard to assess. But the string of 2026 purchases shows Ringmetall accelerating a buy-and-build strategy aimed at diversifying beyond its traditional industrial-packaging lines.
